Vesion 2.4.5 Released - Final Version This Round

Version 2.4.5 is now out. It fixes a few small bugs, and adds the ability to save your login session for 2 weeks via a browser cookie.

This should be the last of the 2.4.x released, with 2.5 entering beta testing next week. Let me know if you're interested in helping to beta test the new version, which adds the ability to do billing and some other things.

There are no database changes since 2.4 so no you should be able to just replace the code and leave your config files.

JC's Gravatar Any plans to add multiple layers of permission? Would be nice to have Admin/Project Manager/Developer at least. The all or nothing approach is a bit awkward. It'd also be nice if developers could put in at least a project request for approval.

I'd offer to beta test, but we wouldn't have any use for the billing functionality so it wouldn't get tested :(

Corey's Gravatar Time permitting, I'll help test.

Tony's Gravatar I agree about adding projects. Admin only for project creation is the reason we stopped use Basecamp. Users need to be able to create their own so having permissions for this would be great.

John Whish's Gravatar Glad to see that new releases are rolling out all the time - keep up the good work!

I've found a bug when adding a new user. The actual error is this:

The second parameter (AtPosition) of the function Insert(SubString, InString, AtPosition), which is now equal to 10, must be less than or equal to the length of the second parameter (String), which is now equal to (51 ) and has a length of 9

The error occurred in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\projecttracker\includes\udf.cfm: line 37

35 :       for (i=1; i lte len(trim(varmask)); i=i+1) {
36 :          curPosition = mid(varMask,i,1);
37 :          if(curPosition neq "x") newFormat = insert(curPosition,newFormat, i) & " ";
38 :       }
39 :    }

I've also got a screen grab if that helps. Is it best to report bugs on the issue tracker?

Stefan Vesterlund's Gravatar Joe, I am currently adding the option "complete" a ToDo list. I want that so that I can keep them for reference but get them out of the normal listings. That means I will add a page named something like "archivedtodos.cfm" where one can activate them again if necessary. Furthermore, I like to add the ability to add comments for everything, ToDo lists, items, other comments, well everything, and I see that the database seem to be already prepared for that. Is that maybe something that you yourself is currently working on?

Stefan Vesterlund's Gravatar I have finished the ability to "complete" ToDo lists (when they have no open items in them", which will put them on a kind of an archive. I also added the option to MOVE a ToDo list to another project. I don't know if it is typical just for us, but it happens that we want to split projects.

I am now work on the "comment everything" and I made the comments to be have the attribute 'action' so that it is possible to separate what is a note about something that has been done or id it is just a normal comment. If it is an 'action', it can have 'time' attached to it, so that each iten can now consist of many actions, each with their own time.

I don't know how this collides with the current 2.5, but since I can not reach the project in any other way, I have tried the "contact project" option, I thought I just write it down here. If anyone is interested and have thoughts, I am all ears.
